Teachabout’s 4E Model

We are a week away from the beginning of our 2013 Wet Season program in Minyerri. Our Activity Leaders are in the process of designing and reviewing potential activities. All the activities that we run during our program are based upon Teachabout's 4E model. The model incorporates four key objectives, ‘Empowering’, ‘Enabling’, ‘Expanding’ and ‘Engaging’. In designing our activities we address at least one E within each activity.
Empowering activities inspire participants through stories about famous Aboriginal achievers. 'Empowering' also refers to creating a program environment in which participants' culture and identity' are celebrated.

Expanding activities improve participants’ knowledge of the opportunities education can provide and broaden their knowledge of the world more generally.
Enabling activities equip participants with essential skills for the future, e.g. literacy, numeracy, computer skills etc.
Engaging has dual focus – it relates to supplementary activities that are essential to ensure string participation through the program and it relates to engaging kids, their families and the community more broadly into the program.
Not long now until we will get to see our activities in action!
